About Chasing Burgundy

Mary Margaret McCamic, Master of Wine

Chasing Burgundy was founded in 2024 by Master of Wine Mary Margaret McCamic. Its aim is simple: to provide a gateway into the beautiful world of Burgundy utilizing the most powerful tool we have — education. A region filled with so much complexity, history, prestige and mystique can surely only ever be chased, as there is no end to the journey of learning. Thus the name: Chasing Burgundy.

Chasing Burgundy’s educational series combines Mary Margaret's two areas of expertise and passion: teaching and Burgundy’s captivating wines. It also aims to be concise, approachable, and relevant to Burgundy in today’s world. In addition to becoming a Master of Wine in 2016, Mary Margaret holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which she achieved after earning a B.A. in English and Creative Writing. Together with over 16 years in the wine business, including over ten years importing and selling Burgundy, regular trips to the region, and countless bottles of Burgundy, Mary Margaret is thrilled to guide you through the mystique and majesty of this famed region whether you are a novice, seasoned collector, or trade professional.

After the success of Chasing Burgundy’s launch in 2024 with its Foundation Class Series, Mary Margaret introduced a new series in 2025 focusing on the best part about Burgundy — tasting it! The Art of Tasting Burgundy is a live, 4-class series that dives into the skill of differentiating wines based on origin, quality, style, vintage, winemaking, longevity, and how these elements interact in this complex yet fascinating wine region.

In April 2025, Mary Margaret also launched Chasing Burgundy: On the Page, wherein she writes about Burgundy. its wines, the people, travel stories, vintage reflections, and beyond. On the Page allows Mary Margaret to get back to her roots in writing. Explore all of your class options or subscribe to On the Page by clicking the buttons below.
